The Birth of a new Nation

This term in Year 9 SOSE we began our study of World War I by looking at Australia at the turn of the 20th century, with particular emphasis on our federation in 1901.  This was a very important event for Australia as a nation, one that changed our country forever.

The birth of a country is a very significant moment in world history, and it was very exciting to see South Sudan gain its independence on July 9.  I hope this now leads to peace and prosperity in an area of the world that has been plagued by violence and sadness for so long.

Welcome to the world South Sudan.
